- Title
SIGNIFICANT MERCHANDISING TRENDS OF THE INDEPENDENT TIRE DEALER.
- Authors
Schalk Jr., A. F.
- Abstract
The article discusses some of the merchandising trends among independent tire dealers. Throughout the 1940s, the author believes tire dealers have started to stock more lines of merchandise in different fields. A questionnaire was developed by the National Association of Independent Tire Dealers Inc. to ask tire dealers about the types of merchandise they stock. The Association received 1,433 completed questionnaires, which show that many dealers are selling a diverse array of products, including new and used tires, vulcanizing and recapping services, batteries, spark plugs, and heaters. The author believes that without a close relationship to their customers, tire dealers should aim to create a relationship by factors other than cost, or branch out and offer more merchandise.
