- Abstract
For a long time, buildings have been getting bigger and wider, with larger shapes at the expense of a greater environmental impact. Until the 1970s, there was almost no concern about the impact that a construction could cause on the environment. That has changed. From that time on, the architecture scene brought great innovations and the atmosphere of civil construction contributed to the creation of the concept of Sustainable Architecture, which encompasses several minimum achievements that, together, promote a huge difference when compared to years ago. Profitable sources of energy, water reuse devices, recyclable materials, lamps and appliances with less consumption, air conditioning techniques, among several positive factors that, together, result in better expectations regarding the future of the planet, considering that if such actions had not started to be implemented, certainly great climatic changes added to the scarcity of water, food, trees and ores, would negatively transform the biosphere in which we live.
