- Abstract
This article presents information on unhardened epoxy resin in tool handles. An electrician developed hand eczema when using certain screwdrivers. He showed positive patch test reactions to ethanol extracts of the handles of 2 screwdrivers. The application of using low molecular weight epoxy resin in handles of cellulose acetate was unknown, so different handles of screwdrivers were investigated. Other plastic materials are also used for the handles but no epoxy resin stabilizers are used. One manufacturer, however, used unhardened low molecular weight epoxy resin as a sticky compound in the paint in the printed trademark on the handle.
