- Abstract
Obstetric hysterectomy refers to the surgical removal of a pregnant uterus or recently pregnant uterus. Obstetric hysterectomy is one of the markers of obstetric morbidity. The aim of this study was to determine the incidence, indications, maternal profile in our tertiary care hospital. In our study incidence of obstetric hysterectomy was 0.18%, most of women were between age of 26-30 years with one or more parity. Main indication was post partum haemorrhage (54%). This study concludes multiparity is risk factor for obstetreic hysterectomy. Post partum haemorrhage, placental cause and uterine rupture are major indications of obstetric hysterectomy.
