- Abstract
This article presents the anthropological, archeozoology, and archaeological study of fourteen Bronze Age structures at the pit-field site of Las Cárcavas II (Illescas, Toledo, Spain). This site is part of two previously defined archaeological areas known as Los Royos I and III. An archaeological research project conducted in 2021 allowed to identify several concentrations of negative structures in the form of pits that are part of the same archaeological site. This paper presents the result of the analysis of funerary deposits (divided into primary burials and burials with isolated human bone remains), as well as various ceramic, lithic, and faunal remains recovered during the excavation process, along with C14 dating results obtained for 6 of the funerary contexts, providing a chronological range from 1882-1681 cal BC to 1634-1504 cal BC. Additionally, the article discusses the results of three structures interpreted as votive deposits, where structured animal bone deposits and various archaeological materials in inverted positions are documented.
