- Authors
WILLIAMS, BRYAN
- Abstract
The author discusses the use of Alert, Voice, Pain, and Unresponsive (AVPU) scale when evaluating a patient's level of consciousness through the National Early Warning Scale. The National Health Services urges the public to get immediate medical help if someone becomes delirious. Acutely-altered mentation may take place as a consequence of common causes in patients with acute illness. Acute confusion is considered a potent marker of clinical risk and acute illness severity.
