- Abstract
The article presents a study of the quality of careers support provided for registered nurses and midwives in the secondary care sector in Shropshire and Staffordshire in England. One questionnaire was aimed at all registered nurses and midwives in secondary care settings, while a second was targeted at professionals and line managers in positions where they could offer careers support. Results showed careers support had been sought formally by 35 per cent of participants during the past five years, whereas 67 per cent had made informal approaches. The most frequently identified groups providing careers support were line managers, colleagues, tutors and lecturers.
