- Title
It Is Premature to Reduce Linezolid Doses in Patients With Impaired Kidney Function.
- Authors
Maves, Ryan C
- Abstract
The authors discuss a study by E. K. McCreary and colleagues which offered a review of commonly held misconceptions about antibiotic therapy. Topics include the recommendation to use a reduced dose of linezolid patients with impaired kidney function, the risk of bleeding in intensive care unit (ICU) patients, and how reduced dosing of linezolid in patients with low estimated glomerular filtration rates (eGFRs) may affect the risk of thrombocytopenia.
