- Abstract
The article discusses various aspects of Third-Party Litigation Financing (TPLF) in relation to America's legal system as of 2016, and it mentions consumer legal funding, investments in commercial claims, and loans to lawyers in the U.S. The champerty and maintenance common-law doctrines are addressed, along with usury laws and American contract law principles such as undue influence. TPLF practices in Australia, Germany, and Great Britain are also assessed.
