- Abstract
In the article, the authors examine the role of the drug azithromycin in the regulation of transmembrane serine protease 2 (TMPRSS2), angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), and transmembrane serine protease 11D (TMPRSS11D) genes, and the coding for proteins for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) activation, infection and transmission. Also cited is the use of immunohistochemistry to examine the isolated primary airway nasal epithelial cells.
