- Abstract
The article presents information on a medical research aimed to evaluate the role of inflammation in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's Disease. For the research new Parkinson's Disease animal models and primary midbrain neuron-glia cultures were developed. The research demonstrated that microglia play a major role in mediating the inflammation-related neurodegeneration of neurons. It also showed that the degeneration were triggered by a variety of environmental toxins.
