- Abstract
AICA aneurysms comprise <2% of all intracranial aneurysms.[[1]],[[2]] The AICA aneurysm can be classified into proximal, meatal, and distal.[[2]] The proximal aneurysms are more common than the distal. Select cases of intra-meatal (type III) aneurysms can be approached through the trans-labyrinthine approach.[[7]] In our case, the aneurysm was of type II meatal AICA aneurysm. Interv Neuroradiol 2022;28:604-12. 7 Liang B, Brammeier T, Huang J, Benardete EA. "Plugged" anterior inferior cerebellar artery aneurysm causing facial palsy, hearing loss, and subarachnoid hemorrhage treated by a translabyrinthine approach. We used the temporary clip during aneurysm dissection on the proximal vessel as short as possible due to the uncertainty of its disastrous effects.[[10]] An elective temporary clip application was considered better than an emergency temporary clip application.[[10]] Conclusion The meatal segment AICA aneurysm can be safely clipped with the current microsurgical technique in expert hands.
