- Abstract
In the article "4D Oriented Dynamic Scaffold for Promoting Peripheral Nerve Regeneration and Functional Recovery," published in Advanced Functional Materials, Huiming Wang, Yong He, Mengfei Yu, and their colleagues present a new bioengineered strategy for promoting peripheral nerve regeneration. The strategy involves using a dynamic scaffold with temporary spacious micro-grooved microtopography, persistent narrow micro-grooved microtopography, and deformation force-based mechanical stimuli. This scaffold can regulate neuronal proliferation, differentiation, axon extension, and the formation of robust regenerating nerve fascicles. The researchers found that this approach had comparable therapeutic effects to autologous nerve transplantation.
