- Abstract
Dy3+, Sm3+ co-doped Y2SiWO8 (YSiWO) phosphors were synthesized through the sol–gel method. The crystal structure, morphology, photoluminescence spectra and thermal stability of the phosphors have been thoroughly studied. The Dy3+ dopant concentration is fixed at 2 mol% in co-doped samples. It is noticeable that energy transfer from Dy3+ to Sm3+ is apparent under the 365 nm excitation. The energy transfer mechanisms of Dy3+ → Dy3+ (YSiWO: Dy3+), Sm3+ → Sm3+ (YSiWO: Sm3+) and Dy3+ → Sm3+ (YSiWO: Dy3+, Sm3+) are extensively studied, respectively. Upon the 365 nm excitation, the co-doped phosphor shows the color-tunable emission varying from blue-green to white via adjusting Sm3+ concentration. The YSiWO: 0.02Dy3+, 0.06Sm3+ phosphor exhibits an ideal warm white emission with CIE coordinates of (0.362, 0.323) and CCT of 4129 K. This phosphor is also found to possess the remarkable thermal stability. In summary, the YSiWO: Dy3+, Sm3+ white-emitting phosphor may have potential use in w-LEDs.
