- Abstract
The article titled "Tissue Ablation with Multi-Millimeter Depth and Cellular-Scale Collateral Damage by a Femtosecond Mid-Infrared Laser Tuned to the Amide-I Vibration" explores a new technology for precise and deep laser tissue ablation. The researchers, led by Houkun Liang, demonstrate that using a mid-infrared laser wavelength that resonates with the amide-I vibration and the bending mode of water, they can achieve efficient tissue ablation and minimal damage to surrounding cells in tissues with densely packed collagen fibrils, such as sclera, cornea, and cartilage. This tabletop solution has potential applications in various medical procedures.
