Regreso a O porco de pé.
- Authors
Fraga, César C. Morán
- Abstract
This study of O porco de pé shows how a particular social type, the Castilian tradesman or 'maragato', is parodied in this work by Vicente Risco, and also by other Galician writers such as Blanco-Amor, Castelao, Otero Pedrayo or Cunqueiro. Morán Fraga looks at the attitudes and attributes of the narrator, deals with the time and space in which the action takes place, and examines the depiction of the various characters who inhabit this novel. He highlights the presence of humour and irony, and shows how parody may be achieved by the use of language. Finally, he examines structure and plot development in the novel, and analyses those passages which are most in tune with contemporary style.
