- Abstract
The article discusses the multistate outbreak of listeriosis associated with Jensen Farms cantaloupe in the U.S. from August to September 2011. It says that listeriosis is caused by Listeria monocytogenes, which is a common gram-positive bacillus. According to the author, the outbreak has several unusual features including the association with melon and four widely differing pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) pattern combinations.
