- Abstract
The article discusses a study which examined the association of baseline circulating leptin concentrations in a community-based sample of individuals without dementia with incident dementia and Alzheimer's disease (AD) during follow-up and magnetic resonance imaging measures of brain aging in survivors. The study measured this leptin concentration in 785 patients without dementia age 79 years, as well as assessed two measures of brain aging, such as total cerebral brain volume and temporal horn volume. It was found that higher leptin levels were associated with a lower risk of incident dementia and AD in the models used.
