- Abstract
The book "Zen, Tao and Ukiyoe. Horizons of Contemporary Artistic Inspiration" written by Pilar Cabanas Moreno and Matilde Arias Estevez, analyzes the influence of Asian art on contemporary art, focusing on the works of selected Spanish artists. The study reflects the influence of Chinese and Japanese art in the last 150 years and contains abundant information about the artistic relationships between China, Japan, and Spain. The book is divided into two parts: "New Horizons" and "Interactions," exploring Taoism, Zen, and the impact of Japonism on Western art. It also addresses the influence of calligraphy and oriental poetry on the aesthetics and themes of art, highlighting the importance of figures like Suzuki Daisetsu in the spread of Zen Buddhism in the West.
