- Authors
Müller, Stig; Patel, Hiten R. H.
- Abstract
The article discusses the introduction of the surgical checklist in the World Health Organization guidelines for safer surgery. It states that checklists are the foundation of quality control and security in the airline industry in response to a test flight accident. It mentions that surgical checklist aims to prevent avoidable human error to a large extent such as the checklist from the B-17 era which prevented repetition of the disastrous human error. However, it is not clear what specific items on the surgical checklist lead to less mortality rates.
