- Abstract
The article discusses how the coding data related to patient records are an insensitive method of predicting acute stroke (AS) incidence. Topics discussed include translation of patient records into International Classification of Disease 10th edition (ICD-10) codes, assessing the sensitivity and positive predictive value (PPV) of coding department detection of AS, and use of coded data for financial reimbursement and epidemiological research.
