- Abstract
The role of measurable or minimal residual disease (MRD) detection is prominently important in oncohematology, principally in the therapy of acute leukemias. MRD results reveal how patients responded to the therapies, different prognostic groups can be created based on them and they can influence the quantity and quality of the subsequent treatments. On the other hand, the detection of small tumor cell populations challenges the specialists working in the diagnostic field: what kind of method and what kind of material should be used to detect MRD? The aim of our review is to introduce methods for MRD detection and their application in the clinical practice in Hungary.
