The article addresses the need for surveyors to act and think as lead consultants in land development projects. It infers that surveyors must become proficient in planning, civil and urban design. It urges the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors to take a lead role in establishing best practice, expert knowledge and guidelines on cadastral surveying.
