Some Thing(s) About Italy: Dickensian Objects, Interiors and Pleasures.
- Authors
ARMSTRONG, MARY A.
- Abstract
A literary criticism of the book “Pictures from Italy" by Charles Dickens is presented. It focuses on the idea that this travelogue is defining more about Dickens himself than Italy, as commented by authors including G. K. Chesterton and Kate Flint. Topics include Dickens' detailing of scenes and objects when he visited San Carlo, Pompeii and a church in Rome, Italy. Also remarks that Dickens tour was aimless and was interested in common and random things of art and antiquity.
