- Abstract
This article discusses a case study of a patient who underwent kidney transplantation after 40 years of hemodialysis (HD). The patient initially received a living donor kidney transplant but had to resume HD due to worsening renal function. The patient then underwent home HD for 10 years before being given the opportunity for deceased donor kidney transplantation (DDKT). The surgery was successful, and the patient was able to discontinue HD. The article emphasizes the importance of maintaining hope and perseverance for patients undergoing HD treatment and highlights the potential benefits of kidney transplantation in improving quality of life and survival rates.
