Does South African research output promote innovation?
- Authors
Inglesi-Lotz, Roula; Pouris, Anastassios
- Abstract
The article comments on an article "Patents vs publications and R&D: Three sides of the same coin? Panel Smooth Transition Regression (PSTR) for OECD and BRICS countries" which was published in the journal "Applied Economics." The paper identified research thresholds beyond which countries can move into the next phase and increase their patents. The authors' aim to provide a scope of the revealed priorities in South Africa and how the choice of indicators may affect the relevant conclusions.
