- Title
Mindfulness Meditation Practice in Spiritually Influenced Group Work.
- Authors
Coholic, Diana
- Abstract
The article reports on a research analysis from a group of social work students and graduates regarding mindfulness meditation practice. The authors look at how mindfulness practice is facilitated, how group participants experienced mindfulness practice as useful, and why they described it as a spiritual practice and/or experience. It was observed that mindfulness practice helped group participants to: stop judging their thoughts, experiences and feelings; develop their self-awareness; experience life's moments more fully; deepen feelings of appreciation, experience and gratefulness; enhance their self-esteem; and feel more related to their spirituality.
