- Abstract
The article discusses the significance of primary care on the gaps of the quality of medical care in the U.S. It is noted that the Institute of Medicine has identified several chasms which include between those who provide primary care and those who do not fund, study, support, or publish practical primary care studies and the chasm between research and quality improvement. It is revealed that the chasms are a result of problematic concepts, attitudes and financing approaches.
