- Abstract
The article discusses the tribology of polymer-based materials (PBMs), examining efforts to use carbon nanotubes (CNTs) as a filler to improve PBM tribology. In this experiment, polyamide 6 (PA6), a principle thermoplastic utilized in the plastics engineering and textile industry, is reinforced with unfunctionalized and functionalized CNTs by melt-mixing the materials in an extruder. Topics include nanocomposites characterized by sliding wear determination (SWD) and increasing the interfaces between nanotubes and the polymer matrix.
