- Abstract
The article focuses on the clinical interpretation and management of elevated potassium serum levels, or hyperkalemia, in patients undergoing chronic hemodialysis. Topics discussed include balanced dietary intake of potassium, clinical consequences of hyperkalemia, and management of hyperkalemia hemodialysis. Causes of hyperkalemia in hemodialysis patients are explored, which include increased elevated potassium intake and insufficient dialytic potassium removal.
