- Abstract
The article discusses the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary thrombo-embolic (PE) disease and the development of new anticoagulant therapies. Acute or chronic PE is said to be the obstruction by emboli of the central or peripheral pulmonary arteries and is the third leading cause of vascular death. Physicians' estimates have been proven valuable in the diagnosis of PE. Anticoagulation therapy including heparin, enoxaparin and dalteparin were mentioned as possible treatments.
