- Abstract
A biography of Vivian Harsh, director of the Hall Library in Chicago, Illinois from 1932 to 1958, is presented. She was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1890 and studied at Wendell Phillips High School in Bronzeville in Chicago, Illinois. After finishing her studies at Simmon College Library School in Boston, Massachusetts, she attended Columbia and the University of Chicago. In the 1930s, she attempted to increase interest in African American history and culture.
