- Title
Martin Luther, Home-Boy, Looks Outward.
- Authors
Karant-Nunn, Susan C.
- Abstract
The article reflects on three activities that drew German priest Martin Luther to reflect on life outside Germany. These include his trip to Rome in 1510-1511 as the companion of a senior member of the Augustinian Eremites; the encroachment of the Ottoman Turks on southeastern Europe; and translating the Bible. It is opined that Luther viewed human activity through the lens of his German-ness and his allegiance to the ideals of the New Testament.
