- Abstract
In this article, the author discusses a research related to the improvement of reticuline productivity from dopamine by using engineered Escherichia coli. Topics discussed include benzylisoquinoline alkaloids (BIAs) are pharmaceutically important compounds, microbial production, and (S)-norcoclaurine synthase. Other topics discussed include BIAs are secondary metabolites synthesized by plants in Papaveraceae, Berberidaceae, Ranunculaceae, and Magnoliaceae families.
