- Abstract
The article discusses the nuclease activity and thermostability of two types of recombinant flap endonuclease-1 (FEN-1) proteins obtained from the thermophilic crenarchaeon, Sulfolobus tokodaii strain 7. According to the authors, amino acids from the pre-ATG region play an important role in providing activity and thermostability to the Sulfolobus tokodaii FEN-1 (StoFEN-1). The authors propose that the translation start codon for StoFEN-1 is another codon in the pre-ATG region.
