N. mucosa could be isolated from the oropharyngeal mucosa of 48% of adult healthy persons. Therefore, it must be considered as a normal saprophyte. All strains isolated by the authors corresponded so closely with the original description by Véron et al. that no doubt about their identity seems to be possible.
