- Abstract
The weight of pigs is an important indicator for growth at different stages. Each stage needs different way to weighing, with suitable busket to restrict animal movement. Therefore, different scales needed for pigs at different stages. The purpose of this study is to develop a smart multi-function platform scale which can weigh accurately and reduce the stress of pigs at different stages. The equipment and software of this scale was designed according to those different needs. One of the components for this scale is a removable stainless-steel frame and a plastic bucket which is to weigh weaning pigs. A suspension system of load cells is used to increase endurance, and eliminate lateral force for reducing errors caused by sway of pigs. Adding wheels to the platform scale allows to move around on farm. The software package uses python to determine weight automatically and input identification of pigs to display on screen by voice recognition system. After the weighing operation, the data will be transferred to cloud space for subsequent analysis. This smart multi-function platform scale would work for different types of farms, which provides accurate figures to monitor growth of pigs at different stages.
