- Abstract
A literary criticism of numerous books on role of gesture in expressing medieval romance is presented. Topics include Hartmann von Aue drawing attention to Laudine's gesture as significant to represent emotional exchange in book 'Iwein'; focusing of Hartmann's book 'Erec' on balancing out two aspects of chivalric life; and Chrétien de Troyes' poem 'Yvain' presenting the reconciliation between the story's knight and his lady Laudine.
