- Abstract
The article discusses the support of the Women's Health Practice and Research Network of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy on changing oral contraceptives from prescription to over-the-counter (OTC) status. The group cited two conditions that must be met for this support, such as they will be sold where a pharmacist is on duty and that there are mechanisms in place to cover OTC contraceptives through Medicare. It also notes that existing research data prove that oral contraceptives meet the safety criteria required of OTC products.
