- Abstract
A 54-year-old woman suspected of lung cancer underwent [18F]FDG and [18F]FAPI-74 PET scans. The scans showed a highly avid mass in the left upper lung lobe, along with suspicious lymph node metastases. However, histopathology revealed epithelioid granuloma instead of lung cancer. The study highlights the potential for false positives in FAPI PET scans, as FAPI can also accumulate in chronic infections. The authors suggest that evaluating FAPI uptake in non-malignant tumors could expand the clinical utility of FAPI-PET.
