- Abstract
The article offers information on Boga-portuguesa which is considered as endangered species found in west central Portugal. The fish lives in small or medium slow water of Mediterranean type streams wherein the breeding period occurs in late April and May where it releases adhesive eggs over stones and vegetation. The fish is threatened with sewage from pig farms, distilleries, water abstraction, and urban pollution that may cause severe habitat destruction.
