- Title
DNA damage response: A ligase makes sense of DNA damage.
- Authors
Wrighton, Katharine H.
- Abstract
The article focuses on E3 ubiquitin ligase pre-mRNA processing factor 19 (PRP19) ubiquitylates replication protein A (RPA) to promote the attachment of Lys63-linked ubiquitin chains to RPA32 in response to DNA damage. The role of PRP19 in pre-mRNA splicing and the importance of PRP19 for genomic stability is stated. It is inferred that PRP19 regulates genome stability in addition to its RNA processing role.
