- Title
Dilated Cardiomyopathy: A Tale of Cytoskeletal Proteins and Beyond.
- Authors
TOWBIN, JEFFREY A.; BOWLES, NEIL E.
- Abstract
The article examines the molecular mechanism responsible for the development of the clinical dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) phenotype. In understanding the genetic etiology of familial DCM, initial progress was made studying families with X-linked forms of DCM. The disease occurs due to disruption of the cytoskeleton and its linkage to the sarcomere and nucleus.
