- Title
Non-healing hoof lesions in dairy cows.
- Authors
Blowey, Roger
- Abstract
The article discusses digit amputation in cattle due to lesions including toe necrosis, non-healing white line lesions, and non-healing sole lesions. It says that a non-healing lesion is linked to secondary infection by the treponemes of digital dermatitis, affects the corium and the production of hoof horn is insufficient for lesion healing. It also notes that options for cows with non-healing lesions would be culling, application of block to the sound claw, and removing them from the herd.
