- Abstract
A theoretical review was conducted on some strenghts framed within Positive Psychology, such as resilience, perceived social support, and generalized self-efficacy, as well as age, sex and socioeconomic status, and their possible influence on cardiovascular health, leading to the target of healthy life styles. Research in the area assumes a direct relationship between age, sex, socioeconomic status, resilience, self-efficacy, perceived social support, and healthy lifestyles. It also suggests indirect or mediated relationships with healthy lifestyles, by exploring variables as key mediators in the treatment and prevention of disease. These variables have been included in the field of psychocardiology as indispensible elements for intervention, prevention and minimizing the risk impact. This area has great importance in the contemporary psychology.
