- Abstract
This article discusses the application of a Dürkopp Adler one-needle lockstitch sewing machine as a base machine for the system module laboratory prototype of a safety seam sewing system. The example of application in the project was the side airbag seam, due to high safety requirements. The laboratory prototype with automatically thread tension regulation operates with 1000 stitches/minute. That rate can be accelerated on the basis of the individual customer requirement profile. In comparison with systems available on the market an increased application flexibility has been achieved as well as a functional extension. Also there is an increased efficiency of partly available functions. As the base sewing machines can be varied, approved additional options are further available for the user. The development of an intelligently acting sewing technique represents an innovative quality assurance level.
