- Abstract
This article investigates the electron-beam-induced structural changes in MgCrMnO4, a manganese oxide spinel that is being studied for its potential use as a cathode in rechargeable batteries. The study uses in-situ transmission electron microscopy techniques to examine the electronic and structural changes of the material when exposed to electron beam irradiation. The researchers observe the creation of a new structure on the surface of the nanoparticles and analyze the chemical shifts and alterations in energy difference to understand the phase transition. The findings suggest that structural changes occur not only at the surface but also within the crystal, and these changes are influenced by particle size and electron beam dose. The research aims to provide insights into the atomic structure changes associated with similar transformations and optimize the synthesis process to prevent these changes.
