- Abstract
This document contains summaries of several articles published in the journal Pediatric Radiology. The first article examines the use of repeat MRI studies in children with acute hematogenous osteomyelitis and found that these additional examinations significantly influenced patient management. The second article investigates the need to adjust the timing of screening ultrasound examinations for developmental dysplasia of the hip in preterm infants and concludes that it is not necessary to do so. The third article explores the factors predictive of suboptimal outcomes in femoroacetabular impingement surgery in adolescents and identifies female sex, mild cam deformities, and lack of sports participation as risk factors. The fourth article evaluates the effectiveness of surveillance for nonossifying fibroma and fibrous cortical defects in predicting and preventing fractures in pediatric patients and suggests that the small number of fractures and surgeries does not justify continued surveillance. The final article analyzes negative patient reviews for pediatric orthopedic surgeons and finds that most complaints are related to long wait times, bedside manner, and communication issues.
