The article discusses the urgent need for a less invasive and affordable dementia screening tool, given the high prevalence of cognitive decline in Japan's aging population. It explores the potential of using artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze facial photographs for early detection of Alzheimer's disease, highlighting the promising results in accurately identifying cognitive decline compared to chronological age.
