- Abstract
The article explores The Utrecht Manifesto, which was issued in June 2015 and enumerates ten basic principles of socially responsible design. Particular focus is given to the five biennials on the theme of social design, held between 2005 and 2015, and to design's role as a catalyst for social innovation. Additional topics discussed include design in Utrecht, Netherlands, and many points of the manifesto including engaging with society, being supportive and modest, taking responsibility together and designing socially.
